Dear fans of Schubert in Calgary,

Only two weeks left to sign up for Schubertiade 2027! Many of the participants at Schubertiade 2026 have already asked to do it again because they had such fun last year, but I would love some new faces.

Reminder of the logistics: Saturday, January 30, 2027, at Summit View United Church (just off the 32nd Ave exit of Crowchild Trail, and a two-minute walk from University Station of the C-train), starting at 1 pm. The church is wheelchair-accessible, and emphatically welcomes all genders, ethnicities, and orientations.

Please send an email to schubertiadeyyc@gmail.com, letting me know your interest, by November 1.

You don’t have to have repertoire clinched until December. “I’m Jo, I’m a contralto, and I’m thinking three or four lieder, but I’m not sure which of these ones I’m working on are in the best shape yet,” is fine!

Also, memorization is not required; even as an accompanied soloist you can be on-book at the performance if you feel more comfortable that way.

If you are an instrumentalist or singer but need a collaborative pianist, I would be happy to put you in touch with a few in Calgary.

This is a paying gig, so pianists will also get paid by Schubertiade YYC.

No adjudications, no grades, if you make a mistake, just keep going; this is a great opportunity to test out prospective repertoire, gain performance experience, meet people, and have some cookies.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Tamara
